TOKYO TALES: I TRAVELED TO #1 ON MY BUCKET LIST AND I WAS UNDERWHELMED.

Updated: Feb 7

Yup. You read correctly. I went to Tokyo, the place people dream of going, and I wasn't impressed. Don't get me wrong. Japan has some AMAZING cities, (I will talk about them in later posts) but Tokyo just didn't do it for me. This past September I took a 10 day girls trip to Japan. 1st on the itinerary was 2 nights in Tokyo. We got off our flight hopped on the Tokyo Metro and headed to our Air BnB. I was walking through a foreign city, 6,700+ miles away and I felt....nothing. Absolutely, nothing. I'm a New Yorker, born and bred. Walking around Tokyo felt no different from being home. Aside from signs being predominantly in kanji, everything else felt super familiar. It was like taking a stroll around my neighborhood. After traveling for 17+ hours, I expected to feel differently than I did.  It's still a gorgeous city and the people were all super friendly. If you are looking for a place to party, the Shibuya district was the place to be (more on that later). Tokyo also had some great places to shop and amazing dining options!  Just wanted to share my first impressions with you guys. Stay tuned for more detailed posts about the cities I visited in Japan.  :)
